My Review of Suzie Carr’s ‘The Curvy Side of Life’

Good afternoon Friends and welcome. Thank you for stopping by last week. It was a huge turnout and I appreciate your support. This week I’m featuring my review for Suzie Carr’s ‘The Curvy Side of Life.’ Let’s meet our main players, Faith, Danielle, Martina, and Candace.
The Curvy Side of Life Cover“I think everything happens the way it’s supposed to and if we look close enough, we’ll find the beauty even in the darkest places.”

Suzie Carr, The Curvy Side of Life

Faith is the main player. She is a little insecure in the beginning due to her current living situation. She has a daughter, Bristol whom she adores. Bristol is shy and will only talk to two people who are close to her. The mother-daughter relationship is amazing, and you will love both as you read along.

Faith has had her own set of bad luck and is ready for something new. She is a bit shy and is very rational. She doesn’t sit around feeling sorry for herself. Instead, she gets busy like helping a neighbor. That was a nice touch to the story. She is cautious at trying new things, but once she dives in, she’s on fire and takes it to the races.

Danielle is Faith’s sister and is lonely after her husband passed years ago. She is a bit forward, yet loves her younger sister, Faith. Danielle wants the best for them and makes an offer to her that she can’t resist. Her persuasiveness does a number on her and you will see what I mean in the book. She is an entrepreneur and owns her own business, which part of the story is focused around.

Martina is Danielle’s sister-in-law and has an overbearing personality. She speaks her mind. Inside she is fearful and uses her bolstering personality to cover it up. This created a lot of drama for the story.

The things I admired about her were her optimism and confidence. She never doubts herself and attempts new things without a hitch. She has the aunt vibe with Danielle’s daughter, which is priceless.

Candace, aka the Yoga Goddess, is just that and I loved her vibe. She is a private person but boasts confidence in her manner. Her kindness is contagious, and she will go out of her way to help another. She has a way with sensitive people to make them feel comforted around her. You can’t help but be attracted to her.

The author deals with an issue that got my attention regarding Faith’s daughter, Bristol. I was glad she touched on this because this affects many people, including children. It was a heartening experience watching and I applaud the players who were involved. I love how the author does research for her stories. For one book she visited a bee apiary and this time it was learning about Salsa dancing as well as the Latin culture. Well done and this is something you will appreciate.

What I like about this story is the gentle and soft tone it has. I got a feeling of serenity as I read. It was like I was part of a sisterhood with the four women and one other woman. Each offered their own wisdom to the story. I felt like I was sitting on the patio with them with the lake in the background and the sun shining on my face. There are a few choice words, but they didn’t distract me from the story. Some of the scenes gave me the tingles.

This book is an easy read and can be read in a few hours. It is touching so you may want to have your tissue box handy. I am recommending it to everyone who wants a heartfelt story.
The Curvy Side of Life CoverHere is an excerpt:

That night, Faith dreamed of a forest. She walked through foggy air, passing by thick trees with double and triple trunks. Their branches swayed. The tree roots sat on top of the soil, creating giant mounds in the middle of the path.

Faith could no longer see what lay before her. Confused, she spun to find a new way, only everyway she turned, the tree roots blocked her. Then, one of the branches plucked her up, lifting her out of the forest and into the canopy. From there, she surveyed the vast lushness of the rolling green hills circling the deep, tangled woods. One giant nest of leaves, branches and knotty roots lay below her – an impassable stretch of land that imprisoned its captives. Free from its grip, she hung in the sky and examined the choices that extended beyond the impossible.

Then, the branch snapped and sent her tumbling back toward the nest. Within inches of hitting it, she awoke.

Despite the dream, when Faith opened her eyes the next morning, the sun took on a brighter shade. It lit up the room in a spectacular tone, highlighting the wicker chair near the window. Faith pictured herself sitting in the chair each morning, sipping delicious coffee as she read a book that took her down a trail of happiness. Under the rays of sunshine, peace would swaddle her. Worries of the mess back in Boston wouldn’t unnerve her. The crispness of her mood protected her from the hollowness of the future that only yesterday she had dreaded.

Overnight, the world lightened with a sunny lacquer. Her lungs filled with air that tasted fresh. Reenergized, she stretched and looked out the window at the side yard. From there, she could see the top of Candace’s roof. It peaked and sloped toward the green grass her body touched and sank into when practicing yoga.

Awakened by Fate

Good afternoon Friends and welcome. I hope you all enjoyed a nice Thanksgiving. We went to visit our family and had a blast. It was great seeing everyone and I’m feeling a lot of gratitude. Things are going well and I wanted to share with you another promo for my book, ‘Awakened by Fate.’
Cover Photo

A lot goes into the making of a good book. In my case, it took several years. I am currently working on a few other manuscripts. Writing the story is the easy part. The hard part is editing and moving things around. I like to have the story in good shape before I send it off to the beta readers. Then they have their own notes I follow. You have to make sure everything ties together and there are no plot holes. It is easy to put in a minor character and then forget about them. That’s why it is so important to have an outline or two handy, to keep me on track.

Jackie is an interesting character in that she is so self-absorbed she doesn’t see what is going on around her. She thinks she’s doing a good job at work, at least until a rush comes in, then she doesn’t fare so well. She is walking along a path that leads to nowhere.

In the book, I go into greater details about her relationships with others. There is one woman that Jackie can’t upset. Out of jealousy and worried about losing her job, Jackie sets out to sabotage her new co-worker.
Mystical Jackie.jpgShe thinks she has her life in order, but can’t see the flaws in it at least she ignores the signs. A big disappointment happens and she still doesn’t see the truth.

It is interesting regarding Jackie’s choice of lovers, including one whom she got caught with. I chose for her to have a platonic relationship with her husband for this part of the story. He is gone a lot, but one has to wonder whether or not he is choosing to go on these assignments since their relationship draws out the worst in both of them.

Along the way, Jackie meets up with others who are able to be supportive of her as she goes through her change. Even still, she has her own ideas.

At the beginning of the story, Jackie has an estranged relationship with her family and has issues regarding them. Here she has a golden opportunity to clear up the tangled strands. But it isn’t easy and some things go unsaid that should be spoken.

I chose a complicated character because wanted her to have a bumpy ride before she realizes who she really is.

Here is another exciting excerpt from this story:

###

“Welcome to the big league, Jackie.”

“You like the flyer?”

“Yes. Lisa is such a genius with her work. If it’s okay with you I’d like to take some of your flyers and post them around town and pass out at my next gig. What do you say?”

Smiling, Jackie said, “Sure.”

Giving her a hug, Trish said, “That’s my girl. Don’t be surprised when the phone calls start coming in. What do you say we spend some time tonight working on affirmations that you can post around your condo to remind you when you’re feeling off balance?”

Trish and Jackie's secret place

Jackie went to the office and returned with a pen and notebook. She and Trish stayed up to all hours of the night working. By the time they went to bed, Jackie passed out.

*

The gentle breeze brushed up against her cheek and the scent of pine and aspen was in the air. Looking around, Jackie saw that she was in a lush, breathtaking forest. The sun shone down through the trees, making the dew on the grass glisten. The wind whistled a soft song. In the distance, she saw a deer that turned to look at her. He stood still for a brief minute, but when she moved her hand, he turned and ran away.

She continued walking until she came to a small, grassy clearing. She lay down in the thick carpet and closed her eyes. For several minutes, she breathed in the clean, crisp air and allowed her mind to just wander. The sun felt warm, beating down on her face, and she allowed herself to soak up the rays.

The sound of a twig snapping caused her to freeze up. Panic overcame her as she sat up. Then in the distance, she saw two very tall women with long, flaxen, hair, sparkling blue eyes, and a healthy glow from their faces, standing next to a large aspen tree.

Jackie stood up and started walking towards them. They continued to stay put, as if they were waiting for her.

“Do I know you?”

The woman on the left replied, “Yes, you do. We have been with you on your current journey and are here to check in with you. How are you doing, Jackie?”

Puzzled, she looked hard at the two of them and thought. Then she spoke. “What do you mean by my current journey?”

“Your current incarnation. We are here to guide you as you walk through your life. You called us here at this time because you needed our assistance.”

“I’m at a loss here. Sorry.”

“You appear to be at a crossroads with several aspects in your life and are confused about which path to take. We cannot tell you which one to follow, but we can tell you that you will soon find the answer. You will need to go to a sacred place to receive it.”

Jackie replied in a huffy tone, “And where do I need to go to receive this message?”

“Ask Trish and she will take you there.”

“What do you mean ask Trish? What does she have to do with this?”

“Just trust what we are telling you. When you go to this place, go deep inside and the answer will come to you.”

A minute later, both women disappeared into the air and Jackie was left alone, standing in the forest. Without another thought she closed her eyes for a minute. When she opened them, she saw a fox sitting in the exact spot where the two women had been standing. Jackie stood there for several moments staring at the animal until he, too, disappeared.
Early in the morning on Kauai

*

The second she woke, she wrote down what she remembered from her dream. Looking over, she saw a peaceful looking Trish lying next to her, breathing softly. Quietly, she stole out to the kitchen to make some coffee. The morning sun was inviting, so she went out on the balcony to absorb the rays of sunshine.

About twenty minutes later, Trish appeared in the doorway with a cup of joe in her hand. Smiling, she said, “You look radiant today.”

“Thanks.”

Trish sat down. Pointing at her notebook, she said, “Anything interesting come to you recently?”

“Oh, my. I had this weird dream last night,” she went into details of it.

Grasping her hands, Trish widened her eyes and said, “Hey, that is amazing! These two women are your spirit guides. It sounds like they want you to get out into nature. I know of a wonderful place that’s not too far away where we can go hiking sometime if you’re up for it. The best time to go is in the early morning when the sun is rising.”

“What do you think they are saying? I don’t get their secret.”

“I think I do.”

“And…,” Jackie said.

“You are definitely ready for this phase of your life. It sounds like the women want to show you something. Now that I think of it, I know of an even better place I can take you for a nature walk.”

“Is it far away?”

“Let me take care of the details.”

Around Trish’s neck was her fox medallion. Jackie’s heart skipped a beat. Trish looked down and smiled. Then she took it off and put it around Jackie’s neck and kissed it. “Allow good things to manifest.”

Happy Thanksgiving

Hello Friends and welcome. Thank you for stopping by last week for my review of Anne Hagan‘s ‘Loving Blue in Red States – Sweetwater Texas.’ This week I’m touching on some things that are going on in my life.

Cover PhotoAs many of you know, this year, I published my book, ‘Awakened by Fate,’ the story of a woman forced to make sudden changes in her life after a night when she experiences a bizarre occurrence. Things she once hid from are suddenly out in the open, forcing her to deal with them. A complex character, I wanted to portray a strong woman who had to deal with many hurdles. Readers root for this character as the story unfolds. The woman may appear to be angry, but that is because she has to adjust to her new life. Underneath readers learn what comes out as a result of her spiritual awakening.

I have been hard at work with my two other manuscripts. One is about a woman who is hurting from a long-lost love as well as having to live in deep humiliation on a daily basis. She too goes through a transformation. The key question is will she ever find love again?

My other story is a fantasy story about two women who are forced into on an adventure to an undisclosed place to learn about a secret that will change the course of their lives. They too have to undergo changes and deal with issues. All of this will make them stronger women as they go after a challenge.

On the other side of things, I have been feeling a lot of gratitude. I have many things to be grateful for, my loving relationship with my wife, my health, and my friends and family. All of this has worked together to make my life stronger. I couldn’t have done it all without the help of my beloved friends, family, and readers. Gratitude is what keeps me going throughout all that has been going on in the world. I realize that outside of myself is a hurricane and I’m in the eye of it.

My wife and I are having a lot of fun this year buying Christmas gifts. Each year we participate in a program where we give gifts to a homeless child. It is fun going to the store and picking out little boy things. I can only imagine how he going to feel when he gets his gift bag at Christmas. I feel good knowing that he is going to have a special Christmas.
IMG_1311Next week is my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving. I like to put together a big dinner with all the trimmings. My favorite is my cranberry pierogies. Since I’m of Polish descent, naturally I would love this tasty dish. I make the dough and let it set. Then I roll it into thin slices the size of a four-inch circle. I put a teaspoon of cranberry sauce in it and fold it over it and pinch the edges shut. Now is the fun part – frying. I fry them until they are a light color on both sides. Now they just need to cool and they are ready to be eaten. I can’t wait until I make them next Thursday.

I am getting closer to reaching a writing goal. I will keep you posted about the release of my second book coming soon.

Be sure to stop by next week when I’ll be featuring something new.

Until Next Time,

Lynn

My Review of Anne Hagan’s ‘Loving Blue in Red States – ‘Sweetwater Texas’

Good afternoon friends and welcome. Thank you for stopping by last week for my review for Domina Alexandra’s ‘I Belong With Her.’ It was a huge turnout. This week I am featuring my review for Anne Hagan’s ‘Loving Blue in Red States – Sweetwater Texas.’ This is a story you are going to fall in love with.

This story is about a master’s student / teacher, Emmie, who has a little son and lives with her mother in Texas. She is auditing a college class where she is writing her master’s thesis. She is family oriented, but is afraid of love and is blocking a past hurt that is affecting her now in the present. She tends to wear her insecurities on her sleeve.

I liked this protagonist and loved the interaction she had with her son. He is a sweet little boy. She has a kid side to her that I just adore.

Cass is a little bit on the feisty side and could have toned down her demeaner a bit. I really didn’t care for her in the beginning because she was brash and invasive.  As the story goes on, her character grew on me and I was able to see she really does have tender feelings. She is an excellent rancher and can rope a spooked horse and then calm him down. I thought that was another nice touch to the story.

The book is easy reading and can be read in about an hour and is perfect for an afternoon get-a-way. The dynamics between the two protagonists is priceless. It was a tug of war at time, but that is what made the story so fun. That is all I’m going to say so go get the book.
Book CoverHere is an excerpt to get you started.

#

Lucius looked around the nearly empty room. He noticed Cass lingering near her seat in the front. “Something I can help you with Miss?”

“Actually, I wanted a word with Ms. Warren.”

“I see.”

Lucius turned back to Emmie. “If you want to give me those forms, I can run them by the administration office tomorrow morning when I’m back here. They’re closed right now.”

Emmie leaned toward him. “I think that’s what she wants to talk about.” She tipped her head slightly toward Cass. “I can drop them off Thursday evening when I get here, if that’s all right?”

“I guess that’s fine. Don’t forget.”

“I won’t.”

“Ladies,” Lucius said, as he turned and stepped backwards to view them both. He tipped a couple of fingers to his head as he dipped it like he was doffing an imaginary cowboy hat.

Cass watched him leave before she approached. ”Sorry to hold you up.”

“No problem. How can I help you?”

“I think Professor Fox has taken quite a liking to you.”

“Pardon?”

“Don’t get offended. It’s just something I noticed, is all. I notice things. That’s my job.”

“Then you’ve missed quite a lot. The Professor is married and I’m…I’m not in the market for dates, flings or anything else of that sort.” If she only knew, Emmie thought.

“Whatever you say,” Cass said. “I didn’t come back here to argue with you.”

“Why did you come back here?”

Cass held up the release form, face out. “This. I need just a little bit more information before I become someone’s guinea pig.”

Emmie did her best to control her temper as she addressed the brash woman. “It’s not a requirement. You’re free to skip participating and just go on your way whenever I’m…well, whenever I’m doing the things I need to do with the class for my research.”

“Not very confident in yourself, are you, Emmie?” She said her name with added emphasis.

Emmie threw her hands up. “I thought you didn’t want to argue? Look, if that’s all, I really do need to get going. I have a little bit of a drive to get home and I have work to do yet this evening.”

“Abilene?” Cass asked, as Emmie gathered her things.

“Other direction. Other side of Sweetwater, here, out a little ways.”

My Review of Domina Alexandra’s ‘I Belong With Her’

Hello everyone and good afternoon. Thank you for stopping by last week. Today I’m featuring my review for author Domina Alexandra’s ‘I Belong with Her’. This is the author’s third book and is one you are going to want to read. Let’s meet our players, Arianna and Tejel.
Author Photo 3Arianna is a paramedic and new to Oregon. Being a transplant from LA, she is starting her new job. She is tough and knows how to stand up for herself. She is quick-study as well as fast and alert. She is finds herself in arguments over many things.

Tajel is another paramedic who is teamed up with Arianna by the station. She was partial raised by her aunt and uncle. She has a fine eye and appreciates little things.

She loves being a woman but doesn’t date. She doesn’t want to it to interfere with her rising career. At work, she isn’t afraid to show her colors, especially to those who undermine her. A family member is her boss at work, so you get to see two sides to her in this relationship.

It was interesting watching the two women bicker for control. Both are strong willed and want to have the final say. The tug of war reactions added drama to the story.

There is romance in the story. There is flirting that really spiced things up. You will love what they say to each other and the scenes are pretty graphic.

Some course language is peppered throughout the story but not enough to distract from it. Good descriptions of the work place. I got the feel of being there. The author took us on a call to save a man’s life. I got to watch as the two women worked on him. I got to see how hard the women work as well as how grueling a 24-hour shift can be. There is good drama that had me on the edge of my seat. Very well done. I know you are going to love this story as much as I did.
Book CoverHere is an excerpt:

#

Once I was done, I changed into a clean uniform and found Tajel waiting for me in our room. I paused in the doorway, waiting for Tajel to say whatever was on her mind. I could tell she was bothered.

Tajel was entirely rigid. Her eyes were focused on me. “I’m not weak.”

Did what I said earlier really upset her that much?

I took a step closer to her so that she could see my sincerity, if nothing else. I was bad at choosing the right words. I never meant to offend Tajel and I was desperate for her to know that.

“I know that you’re not. That’s why it’s all right for you to be honest with your feelings. I don’t think you are weak.” With another step, I nearly closed the gap between us. “I know what real weakness is, because I have been utterly weak for so long.”

Tajel shook her head. “You’re not weak.”

I maintained my seriousness. “Yes I am. Don’t lie for me.”

“You’re not weak at least, not right now.”

The kindness in her words soothed me more than she probably intended. The fact that she was being nice to me at all, especially after my third time slaughtering any chance at getting along with her, surprised me. She didn’t have a mean bone in her body. Not really. Whether Tajel tried to or not, she wasn’t capable of holding a grudge.

“Thank you.” Before she could ask why I thanked her, I explained, “You put your life at risk and kept me from harm.”

“I probably should have done that for the patient instead.”

I pursed my lips, considering her observation, then smiled. “But you didn’t.”

Absentmindedly, I reached out to her, taking her hand into mine and squeezing it.

“And thank you for earlier. I heard what Manny said to you. After my behavior at the diner…”
Tajel accepted my apology for the third time, and I was beginning to think she enjoyed our arguments simply because she liked to see me squirm when I would finally apologize. Time slipped away from us. It was probably only a few seconds, but I realized I couldn’t handle the tension in our linked fingers. When I managed to pull away, I noticed her knuckles were bruised.

I took an ice pack from my medic kit that I kept in the bathroom and popped it to activate the ice. I wrapped the pack in a small towel and placed it over her hand.

“You should be more careful. We need these hands.”

Our eyes locked, and my heart raced as everything around us faded. A knock on our door made me leap away from Tajel and she gave me an amused grin. Yes, I’m pathetic.

Fall and Halloween

Hello Everyone. Thank you for stopping by last week for my ‘Awakened by Fate‘ blog. It was a huge turnout and you are the best readers. I can’t thank you enough.IMG_1310IMG_1311

It is that time of year again when the colors change and the temperatures drop. No more triple digit weather this year. Now we are into fall and it is amazing. We finally had some long-awaited rain and now my backyard is happy. One thing I love about this time of year is Halloween. I have loved this holiday since I was a kid going out trick or treating each year around my childhood neighborhood. I remember in high school, I dressed up as the grim reaper complete with a tight-fitting rubber mask. It was funny how none of the other kids outside didn’t know who I was.

Our neighborhood has an elementary school on the next block and each year all the kids come pouring in to gather their treats. We get about 300 kids and it is a blast watching them walk up to the door in their costumes, coming to collect their treat. We usually have candy to pass out. We get all sorts of kids, including high school kids since we also live near a high school. We get kids dressed in Hogwarts uniforms which I feel is the cutest next to a little girl who was dressed up as a fairy. They are all polite and say thank you.

This year, we have decked out the house with our pumpkins and our lights, not mention the scary music we play. We keep our door open until about 9:00 p.m. or until our candy runs out. We have a big plastic pumpkin in which we fill to the brim with candy. I, of course, pick out a few pieces for myself, but the rest is for the kids. We love to carve our pumpkins and put a candle inside to make them into jack-o-lanterns. We also have pie pumpkins which will be made into either pumpkin bread or pumpkin pie.

Our neighbor has a big inflatable pumpkin in front of her house. She puts up balloons which she gives out to the children. It is great that my street is involved with this holiday as it is important to the kids, as I know from my own childhood.

Last year the World Series was on during that night, so of course, we had our tv on as we passed out the treats. One man showed up with his kids with a radio. He heard the sounds coming from our tv and asked how the game was going. It was fun talking to him briefly about the sport as I gave his kids candy.

This year the Dodgers are in it again, playing the Red Sox. This weekend they are at home at Dodger Stadium. I’m hoping for a huge win tonight. It has been a rollar coaster for me during this years post season. The Dodgers almost didn’t make get their division title or the National League Pennant. Whew!

It is now the beginning of the holiday season and for this year I’m focusing on gratitude and what I can do to be of service. We participate in an annual blanket drive for the homeless. We help out by bagging and tagging the blankets and taking them down to downtown Los Angeles to distribute to the people there. I’ll tell it is a rush helping them out and I got a lot of God Bless’s last year. I’m looking forward to this year’s drive.
IMG_1795
Pumpkin2How about you? What are you grateful for and what types of service work are you participating in this season?

Stay tuned for next week when I’ll be featuring my review for Domina Alexandra‘s ‘ ‘I Belong With Her.’

Thank you for your support!

Good afternoon Friends and welcome. Thank you for stopping by last week for my reposting of Graysen Morgen‘s interview. It was a huge turnout and it was great seeing you all and meeting new people. I am very grateful for your interest and support. I couldn’t have done it without you. I wanted to personally thank many people who have been with me on this journey.

KA Moll, Graysen Morgen, Breanna Hughes, Laure Dherbécourt, Anne Hagen, Nico J. Genes, Domina Alexandra, Ethyl Barker, Alicia Joseph, Lara Estes, Jeri Estes, Jennifer Lynn, Lou Gape, Natasja Hellenthal, Erin Wade, Charli Whiskey.

There are many more people who have been supportive and I thank you as well. This part of my life has had many dips and peaks, right now I’m moving towards a peak and it feels good. It feels good doing my interviews and book reviews. I am planning to start up on interviews later on this year so stay tuned.
IMG_1312Today I wanted to touch upon gratitude. We all have things in our lives that we are grateful for and they can be big, small, or in-between. They all help us evolve along our spiritual paths. I am grateful for my life and for everyone who is part of it. My success includes you all. We are all one and it is important for us to support each other. My fan base includes people from all walks of life and all types of life purposes. I am grateful I am at a point in my life where I can reflect on all the good that is happening now.

Gratitude can come in all forms. It can happen at any time. When we give we are telling the universe thanks for our existance. We can give in all forms. My form of giving is in the form of writing. I love my book and my blogs. It feels good sharing my entries with you each week.

I would like to share with you a bit about my book, ‘Awakened by Fate.’ The reason why I chose the protagonist is that I wanted to show a woman’ who’s life is out of control and the reasons why. Her alcohol abuse is a big contributing factor and I wanted to show how it wasn’t working in her life. I chose her to be in a traditional relationship because I wanted to tell the world how trapped she felt in her own life. She gets married to fullfil a family duty. Her entire world is upside down and I reveal things about her that get her thinking about the path that is in her reach.

Mystical JackieI’ve been told she is a cheater by some readers. Yes she has outside relationships because her marriage is open. She seeks to the outside for pleasure because she can’t see into her own soul. This is what she needs to see first. In the real world these relationships are out there and can work, if the partners are honest with each other, which I’ve seen. Jackie’s addictive behaviour makes it easy for her to be a liar, not to others, but to herself.

I want the world to see what she has to go through so she can begin to value herself as a worthy woman. I believe she is capable of being in a monogamous relationship and that the right person is out there for her. She just needs to keep an open mind and heart.

I’m happy you have been sharing your thoughts with me about my book. I feel it has made me a stronger writer. I’m currently working on three projects, two of which are slotted to be released next year. Again I want to thank you for all your support.

Stay tuned for next week when I’ll be presenting something new.

Until Next Time,

Lynn

#Flashback – Meet author Graysen Morgen

Good afternoon Friends and welcome. Thank you for stopping by last week for my review of Breanna Hughes‘ ‘Stunted.’ Today I’m featuring a flashback of my interview with Graysen Morgen. Since then Graysen has been at work. Her book, ‘Mission Compromised‘ is doing very well and is a great read. You can read my review by clicking below:

Mission Compromised Review

In addition, she has been creating a very special writing project which will be revealed soon. More yet, she has very good news to tell the world and we are all looking forward to meeting the newest addition to her family.

*

Good afternoon friends and welcome. I want to thank all of you who visited last week for my 2018 Goals blog. Today I have a special treat for you. Graysen Morgen of Triplicity Publishing is here to talk with us. This is an interview you want to read. She is amazing. Come see why.

Author Profile PictureTell us about yourself.

I’ve been happily married to my best friend for 18½ years, and we have a 7-year-old daughter. I went to the University of Florida, which is where I met my wife. I was a Lieutenant in the Navy, working as a flight deck officer on an aircraft carrier. I now spend my time writing books, sports writing for women’s pro soccer, and coaching youth soccer.

What is your book “Boone Creek” about?

Boone Creek is a western, set in Colorado in 1880. This story is the first in a series about an outlaw woman named Jessie Henry, who leaves her past behind to start anew. She winds up in a small, troubled town called Boone Creek, where after a mishap, she becomes the Town Marshall.

Me: Graysen’s new book, ‘Castor Valley’, is the second in this series and one that you’re going to want to read.

How did you feel the moment you saw your first book published?

I was overjoyed. I’d always loved reading, and once I’d started writing, it sort of took off. I’m still thrilled to see each new book get published. It’s a huge sense of accomplishment.

What was the last book you read? Would you recommend it?

I don’t find as much time to read as I used to, but the last book I made time for was Scarlett. It’s a sequel to Gone With The Wind, by Alexandra Ripley.

How has your daughter been an inspiration for you?

My daughter, Rylie, is my whole world. She looks up to me in so many ways and mimics everything I do. I try my best to be a good role model for her. She makes me a better person. When I first wrote Natural Instinct, my wife and I weren’t thinking of having any children, at least at that time. It’s funny, my daughter turned out very similar in character to the little girl in the book. I don’t write many children into my books, but each one has a piece of Rylie in it for sure, whether it’s when she was little, what she’s like now, or what I hope for her to be like as she gets older.

Graysen and RylieWhat are your daughter’s creative activities?

She loves anything to do with art, and she’s actually written two books about animals, both of which she also illustrated. Plus, an avid reader and has a soaring imagination.

How has your family been supportive of your career?

My wife is the person who first told me I should write my own stories, instead of reading so many books, mostly because after reading a book, I’d tell her everything I would’ve done differently. J When I wrote a couple of stories, she pushed me to get them published. She’s been behind me from the very beginning. The rest of my family is very proud of what I have accomplished. Some of them have read every single book that has been published.

Can you explain more about “#Bekindchallenge”?

Be Kind Challenge is about random acts of kindness. There is so much power in a simple gesture. The challenge is a month of doing one kind thing every day.

What is the cutest thing your dogs do?

Remy and Roxy are Jack Russell Terriers who are just over a year old. They are littermate girls, and they run our lives! They chase each other around the house, watch TV with our daughter, hang out in the office when I’m writing, you name it. I’d say the cutest thing is the way they are always together. The sleep in the oddest positions like yin/yang or on top of each other.

Roxy and Remy

Who are you rooting for in the next World Cup Soccer championship?

If it’s the World Cup, then I’m always rooting for the USA. I’m a fan of Canada, Australia, and England so I root for them if they’re not playing the USA.

Where is a good place to hang out with friends?

We do a lot of family stuff, so our hangout this past year was Disney World, literally every month. We have an oasis in our backyard, so hanging out at home is always nice.

What would be the perfect ‘stay-cation’ for you?

We pretty much have a stay-cation every weekend, but the perfect stay-cation for me would be some quiet time with absolutely nothing to do but read a novel or lie in the hammock by the pool.

What is your favorite time of year and why?

I love the holidays. There is just something magical about that time of year. We decorate inside and put up a full yard display outside with a lot of lights and wood cutouts that I make myself. I also look forward to the little bit of cold weather that we get in North Florida.

Would you ever want to co-write a book with another author?

Probably not. I believe all authors have a vision, and everyone’s vision is different.

What puts you in the zone when you are writing?

Music is my muse, so I listen to music when I write. It varies from classical to pop and everything in between.

Soccer Coach

What’s next for you?

I am currently working on a romantic adventure/suspense story that involves British MI6. I’m really hoping to turn it into a series. It’s fun, thrilling, sexy, humorous, all the qualities that make for a good read.

My Review of Breanna’ Hughes’ ‘Stunted’

Good afternoon, Friends. Thank you for stopping by last week to read my promo for my book, ‘Awakened by Fate.’ Today I have another treat for you. Author Breanna Hughes has a new book out, ‘Stunted,’ that is doing very well and has been enjoyed by many. I want to share this with you as I too enjoyed it. Let’s meet our main players, Jessie and Elliot.

Author Photo 2

Breanna Hughes

Jessie is a stunt person for films. She is a tough woman who isn’t afraid of anything, except intimacy. She doesn’t date because she doesn’t want to mess up her career. She is a dedicated woman and does what she can in all situations. She likes to take care of others and take charge when she can.

Elliot is an actor and is kind of shy. She’s grateful for her life and has a gentle tone. The writer makes you understand how Elliot is feeling. It will touch you and show you her naturally sweet side.

One part of the story shocks everyone. What happens next is beyond anything I can imagine. The pressure they endured was enormous and I applaud them for their bravery. I’m not sure how I would have handled the situation had I been in their shoes. This part of the story really created a lot of good drama, making the read even more exciting.

What got me excited about this story is the author takes the reader onto a movie set. I got to see the hard work the actors put into their craft as well as being under the spotlight all day long. The reader also gets to go on a motorcycle ride for a few scenes. This I enjoyed! The descriptions are perfectly laid out.

There is plenty of hot and tender sex in the book.

This book is a fast read and can be completed in a few hours. I would recommend reading it in one sitting. You are going to fall in love with Elliot and Jesse. This book met my expectations and I’m recommending it to everyone.

Five Stars.

Here is an excerpt to get you started.

Jessie nodded as Hayley headed off to makeup. She took this moment to look around the set and noticed a dilapidated bridge they built specifically for the film. She smiled upon realizing this was the bridge she’d jump off of at some point today. First, they were filming combat scenes which was the easiest thing for Jessie; she could do it all. Her fight skills were second to none. After three years in the business, she was also quite good with knives, swords, gymnastics, and parkour. She had excellent stunt driving skills, knew how to handle a prop gun, and was particularly good at falling and landing. She had yet to find a height or apparatus she couldn’t wait to jump from. At 26-years-old, she was one of the most sought-after stunt women around.

After familiarizing herself with the set, she grabbed some water from one of the coolers and took a swig from the bottle as she watched what was going on in front of the camera. She swallowed hard when she noticed a beautiful blonde girl talking to the director. Her mouth hung open as she watched the girl going over some blocking. The blonde’s brow furrowed as she concentrated on repeating the movements the director showed her. She laughed. The sound traveled all the way to Jessie’s ears, filling her with something vaguely familiar, but she was too entranced to figure out what the feeling was.

Suddenly realizing how thirsty she was, she took another swig of water and watched as the blonde left the director to walk over to the designated makeup area. She cast a glance in Jessie’s direction. The blonde quirked an eyebrow and gave her a smile, as if catching Jessie staring at her. Jessie snapped out of it immediately and looked away. She’d never been caught off guard quite like that before and didn’t intend for it to happen again.

“Is that the legendary Jessie Knight?”

Jessie turned around and saw a familiar face walking up to her. The girl was dressed in dark jeans and a skin-tight red top.

“Kat! It’s good to see you again.” She pulled her into a hug.

“You too! I haven’t seen you since that race car project. What was that, like a year and a half ago?

“Yeah, I think so.”

“Wow, you look good. Who are you doubling for?”

“Hayley Carhart.” She looked around for Hayley, but didn’t see her.

“Oh yeah? How’s that going?”

“It’s good. She’s actually pretty cool.” Jessie tugged lightly at Kat’s hair. “Nice hair. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this blonde.”

“Hey, I’m a natural blonde. I just had to go a few shades lighter. Got to look the part when I’m doubling for Elliot Chase. You’ve heard of her, right?”

Jessie shrugged. “Can’t say I have.”

Stunted Cover

Kat looked at her incredulously. “Why am I not surprised? I swear for someone who works so consistently in this industry, you really have no knowledge of it.”

“Hey, I have the knowledge I need. I know how to do my job.”

“Try reading a gossip magazine or watching Access Hollywood for once.”

“I get to know the people I double for really well. That’s enough for me. Hayley and I are at a place where we can actually joke with each other,” Jessie protested.

“Well, that’s better than the actress you doubled for on the race movie. You wouldn’t even talk to her unless it was work related. The poor girl was terrified of you.”

“I didn’t like the way she treated the crew. She was rude and demanding and disrespectful.”

Even though she worked with famous people on a daily basis, Jessie often made it clear she had no desire for fame herself. She wasn’t into the whole celebrity thing. She liked her life the way it was. Why bother adding the inconvenience of fame to it?

“Fair enough,” Kat relented.

Doesn’t this sound like a book you’d want to read? I loved it and know you will too. Please leave Breanna a nice review. Reviews show the author the reader cares. Stay tuned for next week when I’ll be presenting an interview.

Until Next Time,

Lynn

Awakened by Fate

Hello Everyone and a warm welcome to you. Thank you for stopping by last week to view my reblogs. This is another way to show you who else I like to read. Today I’m sharing my gratitude for all the support you’ve given me for my book, ‘Awakened by Fate‘. I couldn’t have done it without you.

Picture 3
Mystical JackieJackie is a woman living life according to her own rules. She’s married, but it’s the unspoken, open kind. She can have as many female lovers as she likes, she just can’t talk about them.

After a bizarre encounter turns her world upside down, things slowly begin to change. She finds herself in desperation as she searches for answers. What she discovers is nothing is delivered in a neatly wrapped box.

Now that everything has been brought out into the open, she finds she can’t run away from her truth anymore. With her new life, comes new responsibilities, and a different outcome than what she was expecting.

Jackie isn’t alone in the story. She meets several new people who help her along her journey.

Excerpt 1

Later at home, Jackie began her night with a soak in the Jacuzzi and a glass of wine. With the sage incense burning, she lay back and allowed her mind to wander. Soon she fell into the rhythm of the rippling water. Within an instant her worries about work were out of her thoughts. The only thing that mattered was being in the here and now.
Her solitude was interrupted by the ring of her phone. Smiling, Jackie pressed the answer key.

“Hi Jackie, are you busy now?” Lisa asked.

“No, I’m just having a relaxing evening at home. And you?”

“Getting ready to get into my Jacuzzi.”

Jackie smiled to herself and replied, “Oh, wow! How’d you know I’m in mine?”

“Oh, it just came to me. Since everyone is out of the house, tonight would be a perfect night for a soak.” Pausing a moment, Lisa continued, “Anyway, I just called to tell you that next Thursday, my friend, Jen, has an art showing at the Illusion Gallery in West Hollywood. I was wondering if you’d like to go with me.”

Jackie’s eyes lit up. She and Kyle had been there years ago, and she really liked the art.
“Lisa, I’d love to go with you. What type of work does your friend do?”

“She is a contemporary artist who adds photographs to her work. If you would like, I can send you a link to her web site.”

Jackie rattled off her email address.

“Oh, I haven’t told you this yet.”

“What’s that?”

“For some time now I’ve been dabbling in some artwork myself. I do sculpture and would like to show you a piece that I just finished.”

Jackie felt herself tense up. Now she understood the image she had witnessed at Lauren’s party. Still she was baffled. “That would be great. I’d love to see your work.”

“All right. While you’re here I’ll show you something else I’ve been playing with.” Lisa then explained her love for African masks.

“This is so wonderful. Tell me more about your African safari vacation,” Jackie said.

Jackie and Lisa spoke for a little while.

Excerpt 2

Jackie shuddered. After a quick debate, she decided not to confide in her. After all she didn’t know Lisa very well and didn’t want to burden her with her problems.

“Thanks.”

“Listen, the reason for my call was that I wanted to know what you were doing next Thursday. If I’m not mistaken, don’t you have that day off?”

“Yeah.”

“Well, I was wondering if you’d like to come over and see my sculptures.”

Energetically, Jackie replied, “I’d love to come over and see your work. Recently a friend took me to an art gallery and they had one sculpture artist.

“I just love working with plaster. Sometimes I paint them. Tribal looks are my favorite. I have a picture of one that I recently sold that I’d like to show you.”

“I wished it was next Thursday already. I know I’m in for a real treat.”

“It’s a date then. How about around 6:00 p.m?”

After Jackie hung up the phone, she went to the kitchen and refilled her glass. Plopping on the couch, she thought about her vision she’d witnessed of Lisa.

I wonder if Lisa is going to hit the big time? Why else did this come to me?

“I know, why don’t I try a meditation and see if anything comes forward,” she said aloud.

She prepared.

It didn’t take her long to get relaxed, since she was already drunk. Closing her eyes, she began deep breathing. Soon the white glowing screen materialized. At first, all she saw were colored shapes. Then people started to materialize.

Suddenly, Jackie saw herself among the crowd. Loud voices and music were all around her, clear as day. The smell of beer and smoke filled the air. With awe in her eyes, Jackie looked amongst the people huddled in front of the Bowtie Club.

A group of people emerged from the bar and walked over to the curb. One person met eye contact with Jackie and gave her a strange look. Jackie looked away, not caring what it meant. Looking around, she recognized a woman whom she used to know down at the corner. Jackie moved in closer.

A chill crept up her legs, so she walked more briskly. Once at the corner, she met eye contact with her friend. However, the woman just kept talking like nothing at all. No matter how much Jackie waved, she could not get her attention. Disappointed, she turned to walk down the street. When she got to the corner, she turned and continued walking.

Out of nowhere came the loud barking of a large dog. Frantically, she bolted down the street as fast as she could. To her horror, the dog chased her!

I’ve got to get to safety, and fast too!

The next thing she knew, she was back in her living room and rubbing her legs, trying to get warm and out of breath. She tried to rationalize what had just happened and had no success. And then a dog reacted to her. Frightened, she left all the lights on and before she went to bed.
